  • Power to the People – Stop Smart Meters

March 15 2011 – BC Hydro held Open Houses in various cities for anyone who wanted to talk about the Smart Meter Program for British Columbia. Dr. John Blatherwick, former Chief Medical Health Officer for Vancouver Coastal Health Authority is speaking as the consultant on health concerns with Smart Meters at BC Hydro. Fiona Taylor and Cindy Verschoor with BC Hydro, also talked with concerned citizens. Further consultation with the public will continue in the next few months. Questions about alternative connections other then Wireless Networks was the main concern, which BC Hydro stated they would look into further. Parts of Ontario and Eastern Usa are currently using telephone lines for those who have health issues that prevent the use of Wi-Fi networks. If you are interested in this option send your concerns to BC Hydro or speak with them at future Open Houses around the province. www.StopSmartMetersBC.ca http www.EMRABC.CA http stopsmartmeters.org http weepinitiative.org http

Starting as soon as this summer the BC government is going to put a powerful wireless transmitter ON YOUR HOUSE. At a cost of One Billion Dollars. For no good reason. We talk to Walt McGinnis about the dangers of all wireless technology — including the ability of Hydro and other hackers to invade your privacy by reading your meter output — which will be linked to ALL of your electrical devices — and data mining your usage habits. This will allow Hydro to bill you based on peak or low times and it will allow marketers to target you based on your data. They also discuss the intentional dismantling of BC Hydro, the lack of public consultation and education and, most important, the health impact of EMR on living organisms. ©2011 Lazarus Productions

Put your finger on your iphone camera, and we extract your heart signal ! How it can be useful ? To evaluate and monitor your physical fitness. (App Link : itunes.apple.com Whether you’re a marathon runner or a couch potato (sedentary), you probably have some idea of how fit you are. But having more than a general sense of your fitness level can help you set fitness goals, monitor how you’re doing and maintain your motivation. This application offers an easy way to measure your heart fitness—one of the most important indicators of your overall physical health. Heart fitness is a prime bulwark against myriad medical problems, including but not limited to the No. 1 killer in the United States, heart disease; more than 70 million Americans suffer from some form of it. This test really couldn’t be easier: all you need is to cover iPhone camera with your fingertip and proceed to 30s physiological measurement. During measurement the instantaneous heart rate is monitored in beats per minute (BPM) and the physiological plethysmographic signal is also displayed. Make sure that finger detection gauge is green and full before and while you are making measurement, and that you are in sitting position for 5 min at least. A low heart rate at rest suggests that your body is physically fit—a key element of a healthy body—so the lower the figure, the greater your cardio fitness. (Source: American heart association). If you want to voice your complaint about SmartMeters, go to : www.SmartMeterHelp.com December 13, 2011 – PG&E decided to shut off the power to 10 customers. These customers had pleaded with PG&E for months requesting to have the SmartMeter removed from their homes, but PG&E refused to help. These people were all experiencing headaches, insomnia, ringing ears, and other symptoms which thousands are reporting throughout California. Finally, these customers felt they had no choice but to hire an electrician to remove the SmartMeters themselves. They replaced the SmartMeters with a store-bought analog meter (the old style electromechanical meter). Instead of agreeing to work withe these customers, PG&E decided to retaliate and shut of their power – even though many of these customers have a 50 year history of timely payments with PG&E. These customers include a 75 year old widow who has multiple disabilities and families with young children. PG&E shut off their power on December 13 – 2 weeks before Christmas. Many of the homes are now without heat as well, with night time temperatures dipping into the 30s. This video shows the Santa Cruz Board of Supervisors questioning PG&E representative Wendy Sarsfield. She tries to defend the indefensible. PG&E refuses to install an analog meter for these customers. PG&E’s only offer is this Take the SmartMeter which was making you sick in your own home, or we will shut off your power forever – even on Christmas day! Over 100000 …
